Albums Piecing

You play in a band or a composer or a dream of becoming a … Your next big step will be to make an album out of time …

Despite how close or far to the event will look at these seven steps must be clear in your mind. Help to get a clear picture the future, you're about to embark on …

STEP 1: Ideation

The initial spark can come from anywhere. Usually a member of the band or the composer comes with a starting point which is generally a guitar riff or a song on keyboard or piano. It is better to have all the band members will participate in Phase ideas so that the group is truly greater than the sum of its parts. But generally in many bands there is a person who is creative director of show.

As a composer, your initial spark can come from several sources including songs and musical genres that you listen to now. This is not the same as being "inspired" or illegally snatching someone's musical work. But continue to listen new genres of music to have an open mind and greater exposure.

STEP 2: Agreement Background

Once you have a starting point, you will need to arrange other pieces of music around the original riff. Let's say you have a killer guitar riff (eg a chord progression) that you may want to start the song with it or use it as a verse or chorus or the main melody.

The other assemblage of songs will act to support the rest of the song. For example, if you use your original riff in the chorus you may want to use a version lighter (say version arpeggio) of the progression or riff some complementary text. Other derivatives of the music could become the gateway or in the intro of the song.

Once you understand the music you have to organize all the merits of the song from start to the finish you want.

Arranging done mainly on computers using a computer very powerful say such a machine with an Intel Core 4 / 8 / Mac processor. Different software like Logic can be used in devices. However, if you record demos at home this can be done on machines less powerful … and even your laptop!

STEP 3: Register

Now, as a composer or a band you need to make further instruments and / or voice and save them separately.

For example, you think your composition could use a sitar solo or between Carnatic singer for choir. (This step is to let your imagination!) The possibilities are endless.

Once the roles key of the song is recorded, we can move on to the next part.

STEP 4: Music Production:

At this point, you may still want to nail a particular meaning, and add more instruments and effects. You may add or modify certain effects on different music that you've recorded to date. The amount of treatment you can do to each track that you recorded is again without end.

A word of caution: There is one point of time whereby you can not achieve much by spending Sleepless Nights some tweaking process on track. Just be aware when to move to the next step! There are bands and composers who spend still trapped in production! Just see where you draw the line between perfectionism and paranoia.

STEP 5: Mixing

This is where you give everything you have produced to date for an engineer to mix and give a basic idea of what you want to achieve in terms of noise. The mix engineer will then mix the song and give appropriate treatment. An engineer mixing tool is of course the multiple Channel Mixer. In a typical course of business, it could be a mixer with 24 channels can handle any number of tracks.

STEP 6: Mastering

Once you finish with each of the 5 steps above for each song you want on your album, you're ready to go to the penultimate step is mastering the album.

The tracks are produced so far are sent Mastering to a facility where the final EQ, including equalizing the volume of all tracks occurs. The tools used for this purpose Boxes are mastering.

STEP 7: Replication

The mastered tracks are produced are Then finally posted (hopefully!) Your business etiquette for replication and distribution of final hope for millions of CDs.

Of course, now that you are the album is ready for distribution, you must make an effort to promote the album. This would require great many steps, and if you're an independent artist without the support of a record label these first steps will be very difficult. Yet, there is no need to lose hope if you are a band or a composer who found his audience the sound is there. Make the effort and reach your audience. Use the Internet to promote your music.
