Like many artists who use cultural and ethnic heritage as a source of inspiration for their art, modern African American art often has roots deep in Africa. A female artist Afro-American who has strongly affected the modern stage, the African-American art is Clementine Hunter. She did not start painting until the age of 40. One of the most famous and renowned African artist of contemporary African American, Mr. Ogundipe has exhibited extensively in Africa, Europe and USA. His paintings have been described as hypnotic, colorful and densely reasons.

In 1996, Mr. Ogundipe was awarded the Pollock-Krasner Fellowship. And in 2005 he was invited to join Africobra, an organization founded in the 1960s and whose membership includes distinguished artists Afro-American.
