As girls, we grew up with dreams of finally living our own life fairy tale. We saw Cinderella get the price, Sleeping Beauty kiss awakens her beloved, after years of sleep, and Snow White Happily Ever After Living with his true love. We are longing for the period of our lives, when the prince would sweep us off our feet and save us the trouble. Unfortunately, by the expectation of knights in armor glittering future, we set up for disappointment, disillusionment, and distress.
When we take responsibility for our own "Fortunately ever afters" we give ourselves to create the conditions of life of our dreams – regardless of what anyone others are doing or say. To create our own lives fairly tale, we need to proactively pursue things that make us happy in the moment. Everyone we know and love will help when we meet. Some suggestions to do this could include:
Setting aside one day a month as our own "fabulously fun" day.
Let's Get Creative here and start asking some questions. What elements do we want to add so far to make it phenomenal? Who would we spend our time? What would we listen? What should we eat? What are the new experiments, we integrate in the day? How could we spoil?
Scheduling us in our schedules appointments.
By this way consistent, we send ourselves and the world the message that our self-care is important. We also get in the habit of saying yes to what matters most to us.
Surround yourself with people, places and things that inspire and motivate us.
The truth is that we are a bit like sponges. It bathes in thoughts, feelings and moods of those around us. The more we are around people and environments that support our growth and our best interest, more we stack the decks in our favor.
Assume total responsibility for our choices and actions.
Let's face it. Blaming others might seem justified at times, but it leaves us in the position to be victimized. When we tell our fingers outward, it becomes impotent and unable to implement solutions. We have absolutely no control over the behavior of others or the hills and valleys of life circumstances. We only control ourselves. Recognizing this gives us altogether.
Avoid people, places and situations that affect the enjoyment of life.
We meet all these people who need to rain on our parades. Negative outlook can infect our attitudes and derail if we let them. Learn to say "no" to situations and experiences that drain our energy and our minds is critical if we want make room for those who inspire us.
Taking pleasure in our five senses.
The world is full of wonderful sights, scents, sounds, tastes and textures. Why not take the time to surround ourselves with people we love. To really experience the physical world around us, we need to report mental practice to be fully present in the moment.
Deciding to stop settling.
Let's check ourselves and see where we were to accept less than we deserve in our environments, our relationships, our careers, our friendships, our lives. What can we eliminate? What can we delegate? What should we say "no"? What do we want to experience more of? Who do we want to get closer?
Passionately pursue our dreams.
We need to write our dreams, believe in themselves and pursue diligently and with clear intentions. Take on the attitude of pursuing our dreams until we achieve them – then we will never give up we reach our own "happily-ever-afters."
